Brown is an expressive musician, eloquent writer, a husband & father, a happy plantsman, and an earth medicine healer. At 36 yrs old, Browne humbly and courageously walks the path of his spirit. With each day it unfolds leading to new insights and offerings for the world. He has worked with plant medicines both casually and intensively over the course of 20 years, and has practiced the art of drumming to induce trance for 18 yrs. What he later identified as the ancient art of shamanic drumming, has aided him in reaching altered states of consciousness, helping him to communicate with other realms, facilitate energetic clearings, and gather information from the ether, to bring back to “ordinary” reality, in effort to enhance his own life and offer support to those around him.
As a self-taught musician, he has been practicing his craft for nearly 2 decades, and has recorded and performed in several musical projects, successfully playing approximately a dozen instruments throughout his musical path. You can hear some of the music he recorded from 2004-2010 with the U.S. based, ambient band called "the Pandas."
From early life visions of his future self, to adolescent out-of-body experiences, to becoming a deep listener of ambient sounds, Brown has trained his ear and transmitting/receiving mechanisms to reveal and refine the gift of deep listening, allowing him to hear music and melodies in the ether and environment around him, receiving songs for the purpose of enjoyment, healing, connecting with the earth and communicating with other entities and realms. He first experienced this type of open channel in his mid 20’s, several years after his first experience with Ayahuasca. Through his continued and committed work with Ayahuasca since 2013, he has been working to shed his old programming, which is allowing more doors to open all the time, both in his abilities to channel healing energies into ceremony, and in his relationships.
Browne integrates the teachings from spirit, ayahuasca, and other plant medicines into his daily life, holding them all as sacred offerings from the divine. Being alternatively taught, primarily by the the natural world, the spirits, ayahuasca, and what he calls his higher self, Brown has learned to embrace divine flow and timing. He has learned to release time & form oriented expectations when aligning to intentions, and to surrender to the synchronicities which flow back in response, understanding that right energies, people, opportunities and insights are drawn into our life experiences at exactly the right time they are needed, and if they are not here now, then they are not supposed to be.
Browne has a passion for jungle life, and finds great joy in working with the plants, developing gardens, learning about and identifying the native plant medicines, gathering seeds and baby plantlings from the forest, as he focuses on restoring plant diversity at the Avatar Centre. He’s been a driving force behind planting both food and medicine gardens, with the goal of developing food & medicine independence on the land for the future. His background in community gardening is lending itself well to helping the centre develop an earth service model, where everyone is encouraged to have some hand in caretaking the gardens, as well as harvesting and sharing in their fruits.
He feels it as a significant part of his purpose, to support others on their spiritual journeys, helping them to reveal their highest truth and purpose in each moment. With ayahuasca as his ally, he furthers the pursuit of this mission to help bring man-kind back to a place of harmony with nature.

Anne Marie Lyness
From a mystical perspective, Anne’s path to self discovery began at a young age. Through the observations made of her surroundings, through the eyes and perception of her childhood self, she began to see how differently she had viewed the world from that of her family and those around her. By the time of her early 20’s, an important part of her journey began to unfold, as Anne found herself searching within the objective world, to find within it a reflection of her authentic self. Upon the synchronistic encounter of the idea that there were others out there like her, Anne joined a philosophical society, focused on the esoteric truths from the ancient past. After many years of metaphysical work with “The Rosacrucians,” Anne then moved on to further her spiritual path and studies through the ways of the Arcane School, a group founded upon the principles of spiritual servitude. Through her advanced Discipleship Training, Anne continued to learn, apply and further develop techniques of meditation, visualization, scrying (the art of seeing impressions in water), astral projection and distance energy healing, while broadening her awareness of esoteric psychology and world religious studies, giving her further insights into the human mind. Her discovery into the power of natural medicines began with her discovery of homeopathy in the early 1990’s. After becoming ill, and receiving little success from the drugs prescribed by the western medical profession, Anne pursued treatments with a Homeopathic doctor. When the homeopathic regimens were able to give her body what it needed to heal properly, Anne was inspired to pursue the study of Homeopathic Medicine herself. This newfound inspiration led her into a 3 year program of study, resulting in a certificate in Homeopathy. In 2009 Anne’s awareness was again broken open by the discovery of Ayahuasca and the world of power plants. Having never encountered anything of it’s kind, Anne was struck by the potential of these natural medicines to not only heal physically, but also emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually, aiding in the potential raising of one’s consciousness. In 2012, Anne and her husband were invited to Peru, on a journey to inquire further into the ancient healing traditions of the Amazon. While partaking in medicine ceremonies and intensive plant diets with an indigenous shaman, Anne found her comfort zone being stretched to a new capacity, making room for a whole new world of mystical experiences. Through her work in the Amazon, new channels were opened, allowing her to begin accessing the sacred wisdom passed on through Ayahuasca and the plant kingdom. With the inception of The Avatar Centre, based upon the combined inspiration from her daughter to open a healing centre, and her husband to buy land in the Amazon, Anne found herself amidst a new cascade of synchronicities, all seemingly propelling her further on her path towards a greater sense of servitude to humanity. This new opening has been a huge inspiration, and she feels now that perhaps her life’s work in the mystical disciplines has been building towards this co-creation all along, of a spiritual sanctuary, a safe place in nature, separate from the interference of the modern world, for the more subtle gifts of humanity to emerge and be nurtured. It is Anne’s plan to eventually split her time between life in Canada, and living in community at The Avatar Centre. She intends to offer her skills, insights and guidance as an experienced elder, with a 40 yr discipline in the mystical arts. She hopes to contribute to community life and retreats at the centre, through the facilitation of workshops & meditation groups, in the furthering of the centre’s mission, for the good of all life.
“The Avatar Centre presents to me an opportunity to create a paradise on earth, where our beings can be nurtured and our gifts can be realized without fear of persecution, like that which so many natural healers experience in the modern western world.” – Anne Marie Lyness
Alberto Utia Bocanegra
Alberto is a Tamshiyacu native, a husband and father, a builder, local workforce coordinator, and a wealth of information about life in the Amazon. At 33 yrs old, Alberto has been a key coordinator in the wealth of information about life in the Amazon. At 33 yrs old, Alberto has been a key coordinator in the building of a half dozen different large scale retreat centers, he’s participated himself in over 200 ayahuasca ceremonies with local curanderos, and has become a true friend to The Avatar Centre family from it’s inception. Coming through a local referral, for a trustworthy and reliable construction foreman, Alberto has proved to be so much more than just that. With knowledge about medicinal plants, passed down from his parents and grandparents, and many years of experience preparing ayahuasca for local healing centres, he has been a great help in aiding the start of our fruit and medicine gardens, and has been the go-to person for coordinating all building projects at the centre. While Alberto is a versatile person, capable of executing such a variety of tasks, he’s also a truly kind and generous man, always willing to help someone in need. While construction and property maintenance are how he currently supports his family, his real passion is taking people into the jungle, and teaching them about the plants and animals of the Amazon. As a guide, his attention to safety is clear and knowledge of medicinal plants and animal sounds are keen, attracting attention to the presence of powerful medicines and creatures high up in the canopy. He dreams of someday being involved in a non-profit agency to protect the rainforest from deforestation, and we wish to work together with him to help fulfill that dream. Currently he owns a couple large pieces of land, one of which, he is committing to never touching, as he wants to preserve the wild integrity of the land itself, and the medicines and creatures it supports. The Amazon is a magical place, and we are so happy to have attracted Alberto into our lives. He and his wife Rosanna and daughter Alicia have become a part of our jungle family, and for that, we are very grateful.
Manuel is humble young wood sculptor & student of the medicine, with a strong inclination towards the art of shamanic visioning . Being raised working the land on his parents jungle chacra, by a father who healed himself through work with Ayahuasca, and learning in his late teens the art of shamanic sculpture under a local artist & ayahuascero anmed Medardo Dahua, Manuel is well season for a life of purpose, inspiration and creative exploration. By 23 Manuel had surpassed the sculpting abilities of his teacher, leaning into large sculpture design, using the inspiration of forms and beings encountered through his work with the medicine. Having grown up both growing ayahuasca on the family chacra and preparing the medicine with his father & uncle, Manuel, while in his mid twenties, has become an expert ayahuasca cook. Currently Manuel is deepening his shamanic path through teacher plant diets and also as a student of world and regionally renowned master shaman/healer Don Benigno Dahua.
